Lucerne to Interlaken
After a leisurely breakfast we made our way once more to the
Lucerne Station to catch our train to Interlaken. The train had large picture windows so we had
great views of the mountains and clear crystal lakes, the unusual colouring
coming from the fresh ice melt from the mountaintops.

Our balcony |
On arrival at Interlaken, we walked to our
hotel and settled in. The hotel room is
huge, has views of the Alps and along the main street of Interlaken. Everywhere, the gardens are abloom with
plantings of annual flowers, and window boxes and flower boxes abound
everywhere. We have a balcony outside
our room, the sides of which are planted with petunias and geraniums and the
heady perfume from them wafts into our room. The temperature is quite warm we
have our windows and door open to allow fresh breezes to flow in.
We went for a walk to explore Interlaken. Almost every shop is selling watches, very
expensive well known named watches. It
must be a very lucrative business catering to the international tourist trade. Para-gliding is the number one activity
available in the town and throughout the day, flyers have been landing in the
park across from our hotel, as many as nine at a time. They were still flying at 8.30 at night.

We ate at a popular pizza restaurant across from the hotel
which had a fine oom-pah band playing. They were lovely to listen to. From our
room we can still hear the band entertaining the diners. We know we are in Switzerland with this
music.
